This mystical site was located about 2 hrs, total from Cancun. It is one of the most visited archaeological sites in Mexico with millions of visitors each year. It was a perfect way to end this first stop.Īfter we left the distillery, we were on our way to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the magical Chichen Itza, which was just a short drive up the road. My favorite part of the distillery was walking through and taking photos of the expansive agave plant fields after browsing the gift shop. The shop also sold typical tourist souvenirs, and various agave products. They had a nice selection of agave, as well as a large variety of other tequilas and alcohol. The staff really enhanced our experience and outfitted our group with sombreros while we took shots of agave and pictures!įollowing the tour and tasting, we were invited to browse through the large gift store attached to the distillery. We tried all different ages from 3 months to 8 years. The distillery processes and bottles the agave on-site, stores it in wooden barrels to age and then sells it to the public in their attached gift shop.Īfter the tour, which lasted around 15 minutes, we were able to taste five different kinds of agave. The agave is crushed using a horse pulling a stone wheel around in a circle. She explained the entire process and all of the steps involved. She showed us the agave fields surrounding the property and then took us inside the building where the agave plant was cultivated and transformed into the agave alcohol. Our guide spoke little English, but I was still able to understand little bits of what she was saying. Ready to experience this authentic distillery, we got our own personal and private tour for 50 pesos each (around $4 US). It was a perfect way to end this first stop.Walking up to the rustic establishment I was excited when I immediately saw rows of agave plants. But didn’t bother me because they were clean clean.Walking up to the rustic establishment I was excited when I immediately saw rows of agave plants. ONLY NEGATIVE if there was one is the rooms are just a touch outdated. Pools were fun you can’t lose with this hotel. I did pay more for the master suite with the jacuzzi and never used it once but rooms are little outdated and AC doesn’t get colder in rooms then 22C which is 71 degrees which for me is not cold at all when it’s BAKINg outside at 93 but I made it work with cold showers. Even drinks I’m a tequila drinker only and thought they would have bottom shelf tequila only well they have a couple premium tequila you just got to ask for it and it’s included. Lobster octopus Shrimp everything you can think of seafood wise they had ceviche aguachile crabcakes and everything was GOOD! I mean A on food. But in doing so I thought I would take a hit on food quality being a pescatarian (seafood only) I usually would stay in a higher end hotel because I know the food will be great anyways this hotel did not disappoint at all. "So I picked this adults only Hotel simply off reviews on how beautiful the beach was NO seaweed as me and my wife came for the BEACH.
